BMW Motorrad present at UK MotoGP

29/05/2010

Join BMW Motorrad at Silverstone on 18-20 June for an epic Round 5 of the MotoGP World Championship. For the first time since 1986, the world's fastest bikes and riders will take on Silverstone’s new high velocity track, with speeds approaching 200mph! BMW Motorrad will be present in the manufacturers’ village, with its full range of motorcycles. Plus the Jentin Racing BMW S 1000 RR race bike will be on track with Richard Cooper competing in two National Superstock Championship rounds taking place over the same weekend.

Pride of place on the BMW Motorrad stand will be the new S 1000 RR. Launched at the end of last year, the S 1000 RR has set a new benchmark in terms of riding dynamics, safety and innovation in the world of sports machinery and has fast become one of the country’s best selling bikes. Its power-to-weight ratio, optional Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control technologies, have all contributed to its ever growing popularity.

The host of new, up-rated touring and enduro models, including the R 1200 RT Tourer and the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure will also be on display. These have been updated with the new Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) version of the boxer twin engine, giving additional torque across the rev range. BMW staff will be on hand throughout the weekend offering in depth technical advice.

As official course bikes, BMW’s S 1000 RR and HP2 Sport will be at the head of the 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP grid and will close the track before the lights go out. For the 12th year running, BMW is the Official Car of MotoGP and will provide an exquisite line-up of cars, fresh from BMW's M Power division in Munich. An M6 Coupe V10 will be at the forefront of all on-track activities, while the equally powerful X6 M will be the second Safety Car, reinforcing BMW's support of MotoGP.

Silverstone has invested over £5 million into a new track layout for MotoGP that not only maintains the fast, flowing nature of the circuit, but will also enhance the spectator viewing experience. A number of giant screens will also ensure race fans are kept up-to-speed with all the on-track action.

With spectacular action guaranteed, Silverstone has developed a three day festival of motor sport, packed with on and off track entertainment that will deliver the best race experience available to UK bike fans. Included in the world-class entertainment package are the Red Bull Pro Nationals motocross championships, the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams and shows from trials legend Dougie Lampkin.

As Silverstone gears up to host MotoGP’s AirAsia British Grand Prix on 18-20 June, the Northamptonshire circuit is urging fans to make the most of Advance Ticket prices. From Saturday 12 June, one week before the race, slightly higher Event Ticket prices come into effect.

Tickets for the 2010 AirAsia British Grand Prix at Silverstone, can be purchased in advance from as little as £15. For further information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.silverstone.co.uk, or call 0844 3750 500.
