BMW Motorrad Days – live and online!

04/06/2010

As the countdown continues to the forthcoming BMW Motorrad Days festival which is scheduled for the first weekend in July, a new online special micro-site has been launched. Available in German and English languages and located directly off the home page of the international www.bmw-motorrad.com website, the BMW Motorrad Days special celebrates everything the annual festival has to offer, including two notable anniversaries for 2010.

Not only is it the 10th anniversary of BMW Motorrad Days itself, but the iconic GS model series is celebrating its 30th birthday, with a special exhibition planned for the event. And because there is so much happening at the Hausbergplatz over the weekend of 2-4 July – as well as visitors expected from all over the world – the organisers of this year’s annual celebration in Garmisch-Partenkirchen have made sure that this online special contains everything visitors need to plan their weekend at the biggest BMW biker party in the world.

Current content includes:

• A regularly updated ‘News’ section detailing all the latest happenings
• A ‘Party’ section with information and links to all the music acts that are playing throughout the weekend, including ‘Blechblos'n’, Gerry & Gary, Byron, Wildcats, Tommy and the Moondogs, Dreirad, and DJs Moorat and Robert
• A ‘Power’ section detailing all sport events, such as your chance to meet World Superbike factory riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus; participate in test rides (even if you don’t have a licence); experience the enduro park on a R 1200 GS; try the G 450 X or even a Husqvarna off-road machine on the X-Track; register for panoramic tours; see the amazing Chris Pfeiffer and his F 800 R stunt bike; and much, much more…

Coming to the online special soon will be a ‘Programme’ section, which will be available for direct download and include comprehensive details of all the weekend’s activities. Furthermore, it will be possible to book test rides in advance directly from this site, as well as view a ‘ride together’ tool, where people planning their trip to BMW Motorrad Days can find out who is going in the same direction as them, and then meet up to share the journey together.

Perhaps one of the most exciting developments coming to this online special is the link to BMW Motorrad’s Facebook page, where fans can interact with the organisers of this year’s programme. Here, they will be able to send their questions to some of the VIP visitors such as Troy Corser or Chris Pfeiffer, so when they are interviewed on stage in the big party tent, it could be their questions that are being asked.

For those motorcyclists lucky to have BMW Motorrad Navigator GPS systems, a selection of routes are already available for download so that those staying for the whole weekend can get out and explore the area, safe in the knowledge that the routes are among the most picturesque, great fun to ride and recommended by local experts.

In fact, with so much to see and do, visitors are encouraged to extend their stay for a few more days so they can discover some of the many delights of this wonderful region of Bavaria. The advice from the Tourist Information Office in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is to book accommodation as soon as possible, as it has been known for every room with a 50-km radius of Garmisch-Partenkirchen to be occupied. For availability and enquiries, simply email reservation@gapa.de with your details at the earliest opportunity.

So, don’t miss out on the chance to join around 30,000 others on the first weekend in July for the biggest BMW motorcycling party, where you’ll see more BMW bikes and BMW fans in Garmisch-Partenkirchen than anywhere else in the world. For all the details, please click here.
