BMW Motorrad announces 30 Years of the GS Launch Day

BMW Motorrad is celebrating 30 years of the iconic 'Gelande-Strasse' range in 2010 with the launch of the "30 Years GS" special edition motorcycles on 19 June. This marks three decades since the launch of the iconic R 80 G/S in 1980.

Each BMW Motorrad Dealership will have one of the four special edition GS machines on display and will be hosting a range of entertainment activities including test rides, special attractions and displays and refreshments across the country. Interested event visitors should contact their local BMW Motorrad Dealership for information on specific activities and to book a test ride.

Also being launched at the Open Days will be the new “30 Years GS” range of lifestyle clothing which features a sweatshirt, polo shirt, t-shirt, cap and key-ring, all specifically designed to complement the GS motorcycle colour scheme and sporting the “30 years GS” logo.

The “30 Years GS” versions of the F 650 GS, F 800 GS, R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure feature the celebrated BMW Motorsports colours of the legendary eighties’ R 80 G/S Rally Raiders that propelled the likes of Hubert Auriol to victories in gruelling Paris-Dakar races. All four bikes feature Alpine White bodywork with Red seats and three-coloured decals in the livery of BMW Motorrad Motorsport. Features on some bikes in the range include hand-guards, tinted screens, clear indicators and aluminium sump guards.

The boxer-twin special edition models are also included in the BMW Motorrad offer of complimentary panniers – which runs until 30 September. Any R 1200 GS bought and registered before 30 September comes with a set of Vario Panniers worth £506.57 , while any GS Adventure comes with a pair of Aluminium Panniers worth £665.45.
